Astronomy pics

I've been slacking on the pics recently. Here's a batch I've been saving for a while.

Volcanoes, clouds, and auroras

Some cracking photos recently from NASA Picture of the Day :)

Perseids

We are currently passing through the Perseid meteor shower. Something the Earth does every year. Here are a couple of cool shots from the year and previous years shows. Niiiice!

Something for the weekend

There were a bunch of quality photos available today, so I thought I would put some up for you.

I keep intending not to publish anymore photos of Auroras, yet I keep coming across fantastic photos of them; and each one better than the last! lol

There is another fantastic close-up of Comet Holmes. And a wonderful shot of Earthrise! Taken my a Japanese probe that is orbitting the Moon right now. Beautiful :)

Have a nice weekend!

Its a beautiful universe

I've been away for a few days to Blackpool (dont ask! lol), and it seems a vertiable dearth of beautiful images.

So heres something to feast your eyes on at the start of the working week. Click on them to enlarge. :)

Its all rather pretty out there :D

1. The complexity of Jupiters clouds

2. Ice geysers on Saturns moon Enceladus. The geysers are estimated to be 0 degrees Celcius, but as the planet itself is -200C then it will geyser like crazy.

3. The Whale and the Hockystick galaxies.

4. And the most beautiful photo of an aurora I've ever seen.

Auroras

This first stunning photo of the Northern Lights was the BBC Photo of the Year 2006.

The final photo is the Aurora from space.

Thanks to Nick for the heads up. One day...one day.

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone.

Aurora

A beautiful green aurora in northern Canada. I would love to see them one day.

Peace out.
