I've been crap at posting lately

No excuses, but I've just been so, damn busy!

Which is good on the one hand. I've genuinely had only 2 days off since 5th May. Some days are easier than others, but since 5th May I have only not worked twice, and you can believe I was thinking about work the whole time! lol

And it doesnt look set to end anytime soon either. After this currrent job, I think I go straight onto another job that will take me into December.

I cant complain. For a self-emplyed person, it is something I have to do, but damn! I just wish I had more a life sometimes! lol

If my scheming goes ahead though, I intend not to work in Dec/Jan very much. Lets see if I earn enough cash my the end of the next job to make that a reality!

Caricature

A caricature can refer to a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness. Wiki

Someone did a caricature of me not so long ago. Hmmmm. I may have to start moisturising! lol

I'll save you, Mr President!

Maybe its the kid in me, but I get a small kick everytime I put my covert earpiece on my walkie-talky in. I feel like I'm a member of the American Secret Service.

Only problem is, after many years of loud clubs, I think I'm a bit deaf. And when I've got the covert in I can hardly hear a bloody thing! I have to cup my hand around my good ear and say something like "Speak up, Sonny!". Not a good look lol

And god help if I get an urgent phonecall to the other ear! My brain certainly can't handle too many (most likely) urgent or important phonecalls in different ears at the same time. My brains shuts down and I usually go Errrrrrrrrrr!

Still, looks good though lol

Film premier

I was invited to the premier of one of the films that the guys I'm working with did last year. A comedy docu about a failed low budget film. The film that inspired this film was one I worked on 18 months ago, but thankfully it wasn't down to the Locations Dept that it went all a bit wobbly! lol

It was a great film, with all sorts of knowing wink to the wonderful world of low budget indie film making. Worth checking out if you get the chance. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1452294/

And yes, it even had a red carpet! lol

Relationship between Genes and Cognition in Schitzophrenia

I was looking for part-time work and came across a request for test subjects for a study at the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College, London. It was a study into the link between genes and the mind in Addiction Studies.

I thought it might be something interesting and new.....so I volunteered! :) So cue me having electorodes strapped to my head as they put little cameras in my eyes while I followed moving dots around a screen. Hehehehe

Old school

A very old school friend from primary school has scanned and published some class photos on Facebook from back at my days at Starbeck County Primary School in Harrogate.

She tagged everyone in the photos, and what followed beneath was a trip down memory lane with a bunch of people I havent seen or spoken to for 25 years. A couple of them were my bestest friends in the whole wide world when I was 10! lol

Its been very nice to chat again to all my old school friends, and to see how they and their lives have turned out since all those years ago. But god, look at them clothes and haircuts!

So here I am aged 9 and 10. Bless! If only he knew, eh? ;)

Carousel

After the screening for Rubins there was drinks in a bar in Leicester Square. Outside, in the middle of Leicester Square is a small fun fair.

So happy film crew + alcohol + fun fair = big kids at play. This is me and my flatmates Quinney and Nicky :D

Save Our Squirrels

I have bought a new car. Or a new one to me. Its my brothers old car and its in great nick!

Its a 1999 Peurgeot 406 estate 1.8L. But more importantly, it has electric wing mirrors! An invention of extreme importance! lol. And it is so big that I could actually lie down flat in the boot ;)

But the great thing is that as it used to be the family car of a Yorkshreman with two young boys who like the ourdoors, it means I inherit the causes that they support from the sickers on the car. So I am now supporting the National Trust, the Cubs, Leeds Rhinos rugby league, and......SaveOurSquirels.org.uk! A most worthy cause, I'm sure you'll agree! lol.

London Pride 2009

As I was in London this weekend I thought it was probably a good idea to go and watch Pride. I've never actually been to one, and although didn't have a calling or anything, thought it was probably good that I attended at least one once lol

I roped in my friend Dean and his boyfriend to show me around, and they were perfect hosts. The parade was actually a blast, and I was very impressed to see members of the armed forces walking by.

Then onto Trafalgar Square for the big concert, which was actually a lot of fun. I particually enjoyed the performance from the stage musical Avenue Q which I have been interested in for a while, but had to leave when the politicians started pontificating for the pink vote lol. Bloody hypocrites.

Then onto Soho for a few beers before getting some food. All in all a good day :)

Paris Hall

Miles the DoP, and his step son David whos 3rd AD put me up at their amazing home Paris Hall last night. Apparently the oldest building in Essex, it was a fantastic place to spend the night. Bags of character in the house.

On a convergence of ley lines (which Miles demonstrated by showing me some divining rods going berserk), it was certainly the coolest place I've had the pleasure of spending the night. Fine cognac by a roaring fire. I could get used to that ;)Thanks gents!

Dont we look young?

An old school friend has posted a class picture of us all on Facebook. God knows when it was. I guess we are about 13/14 in it, so that puts it 1987/88/89. I havent seen that pic in 20 years, and can only rememeber about half the peoples names (for shame!). There is some classic 80's hair on display as well (go Amanda! lol). I'd like to say "good times", but it usually wasnt! lol

But, God, dont we look young?

The Rapture wrap party and promo screening

Had a brilliant time yesterday at the screening of a promo for The Rapture, held at BAFTA headquarters on Picadilly in London. The footage looks brilliant and it was great to catch up with everyone from there.

Then onto the wrap party held at a swanky Mayfair club called Vendome. It was VIP passes and free vodka all night! lol As a result I think I have never drunk so much vodka in my life.

And as I write this I cannot decide if I should try to go to sleep again, throw up, or maybe both! lol

A great night and fantastic fun. But in the words of Danny Glover from Lethal Weapon - "I'm getting too old for this shit!"

Cottaging

I'm heading down south for a couple of weeks tomorrow to find the cottage that is the centrepiece of Expose (why, what did you think I meant?) ;)

Got some nice places lined up for viewing, so fingers crossed the director will like what I have to show him.

I've been immersed in cottages for the past few days, and some are beauties that I would love to live in. There are some crazy places out there that have been made from converted Windmills, Watermills, and Lighthouses. Frankly, I would love to live there. Fingers crossed!
