Another day older and deeper in debt

St Peter don't you call me coz I can't go. I owe my soul to the company store!*

Its that damn time of the year when I am reminded of the passage of time. Its my bloody birthday again! lol All my friends in London are working today, so will be spending it probably alone (although that doesn't really bother me as not a big birthday fan). But I also may have a date, so that could be nice. We shall see :)

Lipstikka is now in full swing so I am busy busy at the moment. We spent yesterday visiting Epsom racecourse and a pleasure boat that was moored right next to Tower Bridge, which I'm beginning to think might just be the second most beautiful building in the world (after the Pantheon in Rome).

* There's a small prize for naming that tune lol

Happy 50th Sputnik

I should have posted this yesterday. Happy birthday, old girl! The start of the Space Age! :)

"Sputnik means "traveling companion". Despite the innocuous sounding name, the launch of planet Earth's first artificial moon, Sputnik 1, by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957, changed the world and set in motion events which resulted in the creation of NASA and the race to the Moon. Sputnik 1 was a 184 pound, 22 inch diameter sphere with four whip antennas connected to battery powered transmitters. The transmitters broadcast a continuous "beeping" signal to an astounded earthbound audience for 23 days. A short month later, on November 3, the Soviet Union followed this success by launching a dog into orbit aboard Sputnik 2. "

Birthday present

Its my birthday today. I am 34!! Boo! I do not want to be 34. But theres not a lot I can do about it lol.

Well, if I could have my perfect birthday present I would get a stay in the new space hotel they are planning to build (2012).

It will cost a mere $2 million a night! :) There are just a couple of things they need to iron out before they accept paying guests - both are things guests do in hotel rooms.

They need to sort out a comfortable toilet system. The vacuum pump system that the astronauts use may be a little un-subtle for billionaires to put their bums against lol. Shocking!

But the other thing that humans do in hotel rooms? ;)

Sex! lol. They need to figure out the machanics of zero-G sex. There have been male and female astonuats in space for a number of years; some of them spending 6 months on the space station. Surely one of two of them have got jiggy with it in space? It occurs to me that they may need to send a couple into space just to have sex, so they can see what happens lol. What a job.

Forget the mile-high club. I want to join the 150 mile-high club!

Happy birthday to me!

It's my birthday

Well yesterday. I am 33 if you need to know.

I should like birthdays more, but since I was 25 I have never looked forward to birthdays. I am that grumpy sort of person who not tell anyone unless they asked.

Dont know why. My mother the the other sort! Make a big deal. Throw a party. Generally make a big song & dance about it. And I just want to bury my head until it goes away.

I am going out for a meal with about 10 friends tomorrow at the Oxford Street Brasserie. Sounds nice. Thats the only thing I like about birthdays, friends. But you should be a good friend everyday of the year, not just on someones birthday. Bah Humbug!!

And if you wonder what I got for my birthday? A pair of work trousers and 40 bottles of beer. Both useful and practical bit not exactly exciting. Two years ago Richard (my brother) bought me two tickets to the opening night of The Producers in London (Unbelievably funny!!) and the year before he bought me two season tickets for Leeds United football club (they got relegated that year, lol!!). But if you could buy me what I really wanted for my birtday, see the photo above :)

Anyway, roll on 34, Horray!
